So far I got NO reliable rumor about the possible release date of the upcoming A7sIII and A1 firmware update. All we know is that Sony said they would launch it from “March 2024 or later”.

The latest super wild rumor I got in my inbox is this one:

I have informations by my Sony dealer that the a1 firmware update will be Launched on March 28th

Fingers crossed this rumor turns out to be real…but like I told you…it’s a wild rumor :(

Sony A9III review by ThePhoBlographer: “the single best camera that Sony has made thus far”

Share

Sony A9III at BHphoto. Amazon. Adorama. FotoErhardt.

ThePhoBlographer reviewed the A9III and focused particularly on the Flash photography aspect:

By far, the Sony a9 III is the single best camera that Sony has made thus far. Nearly every issue that I’ve had with the company’s cameras over the years has been resolved in some way or another. Ergonomically speaking, this is the most perfect Sony camera I’ve held. It truly feels like the evolution of a Minolta camera for mirrorless. It’s simple enough to use, and anything that you really need can be wired to a button or two. But perhaps the greatest innovation is the global shutter. While I miss the fact that I could physically feel the shutter, I’ll accept that it comes with new technology that makes strobism even better. If you’re a photographer that uses a lot of off-camera flash, then this is the single best camera you can get on the market right now.

Those 24-70mm f/2.0 specs are FAKE

Share

If you happen to read those info…know those are completely MADE UP by the author of this “rumor”. So I repeat that 24-70mm f/2.0 info you see now is FAKE:

  • Weight: 1,145g
  • Compact design with extensive use of lightweight materials
  • Not suitable for video users as it does not have image stabilization and is not perfocal.
  • Vignetting and chromatic aberration are well suppressed
  • High resolution in the center
  • Spherical aberration correction is insufficient, resulting in overall soft and detailed image quality

What’s real is that Sony will have an announcement on April 16/17 and that we will get the 16-25mm f/2.8 G. As usual they will soon copy me without to credit me (and credit “Weibo” as usual). Hey, that’s how they choose to fool you because they don’t care ;)

Confirmed: Sony product announcement on April 16/17

Share

Three sources now confirmed Sony will have a product announcement event around April 16/17 (depending on your timezone). So far I only got confirmation about one specific product that will be announced on that day.

To be announced on April 16/17

  • Sony 16-25mm f/2.8 G

Rumored to be announced within the next 2-3 months:

  • Sony ZV-E10II
  • Sony 85mm f/1.4 GM II
  • Sony 24-70mm f/2.0
  • Another E-mount lens (specs yet not known)

I would find it odd if Sony would only announce the 16-25mm G…so I hope at leas one more product of this list will be announced on that very same day. If I could choose I would want that 24-70mm f/2.0 to be announced first :)

I know that the first half of the year is not that exciting regarding the Sony announcements. But like I told major new camera announcement will be coming the second half of 2024! Don’t worry ;)
