Tamron financial results posted: Reports Sales growth and three more lenses coming in 2024

Tamron has reported an increase in sales and revenue, proving that the lens market is still booming. This is also good news for Sony, which owns 15 percent of Tamron’s shares. They also increased the forecast revenue and teased the launch of three more lenses in 2024:

Of the three lenses, I expect that some are just new Z- or X-mount versions of current E-mount lenses. And I am not at all sure that that crazy rumor about the 28-180 mm f/2.8 lens will turn out to be true. This lens will presumably be announced at September.

Curiosity: Review of the 21 year old Sony DSC-V1

There is currently a curious hype involving compact digital cameras from over 20 years ago. TikTokkers and Instagrammers like to buy them because they are cheap, curious to use, and they give a kind of cinematic look because of the low-resolution images. That’s why you can find more and more youtubers reviewing such old models. This one is about the Sony DSC-V1 that was announced back in 2023. First leaked images of the new Sony 85mm f/1.4 GM II lens!

My trusted sources tell me that in late August Sony will announce the new 85mm f/1.4 GM II lens. And finally there is a first leaked image of the lens!

As you can see from these low-resolution images, the lens has a new customizable button, a new rubber ring over the aperture marks. It looks like the lens may be a bit shorter than the old 85mm f/1.4 GM from 7 years ago. Reliable sources have told me that the lens is also lighter and certainly much improved optically.

Soon after the announcement of the Sony 85mm GM we will have a new Sony FX camera, a new 24-70mm f/2.0 and a new Alpha Full Frame E-mount camera. So stay tuned to SAR:… there will be fun to be had!

Leaked? First images shot on the upcoming new Sony 85mm f/1.4 GM II

I told you that in late August Sony will announce the new 85mm f/1.4 GM II lens. Well Fstoppers just posted their Godox review and shared some images that have been taken using this lens! Check the EXIF data to see that.

UPDATE: Fstoppers removed since the images shot with the 85mm GMII…so it’s pretty clear those were the real deal :)
