This is how your Sony A1 feels after the firmware update containing some bugs :) Joke’s aside, I am sure Sony is working hard to fix the issues regarding wifi connections, autofocus inconsistency, battery drain. Hopefully a fix is coming within this month!

One more thing: The A9III firmware update which was originally scheduled for an April 8 launch has been postponed to end of April. But now let’s see if Sony can keep that promise or if they will delay the launch to make sure there are no bugs.

The Viltrox 27mm F1.2 (600 euros) is another gem from Viltrox. Its unusual focal length (40mm equivalent) is a bit narrower than a 23mm (=35mm equivalent). It offers Excellent sharpness, bokeh balls , soft background blur , very good color rendition and very good AF. Note with the F1.2 aperture you will need sometimes to have a ND filter with the limitation of 1/4000 sec on A6xxx
Compared to the Sigma 23mm F1.4 DC DN, it is better balanced as the Sigma although a bit more sharper has more nervous background blur and more Chromatic aberrations

The Sony FX3 just got it’s first price drop: -$200 at Amazon and BH

On Feb 23 2021 Sony announced the FX3. And after three years this is the first time the camera got a price drop in the US! It has a $200 discount at Amazon, BHphoto and Adorama.

Now, I do not have any info at all about a FX3II coming any time soon. Usually Sony does update their product after a 4 year cycle so we can expect a new successor to be announced in early 2025 if Sony holds this kind of pattern. But we can also speculate that there might be soon a new model that will merge the FX3 and A7s lineup into one single camera…but this is just speculation for now.

Note: Also the FX30 got a $200 discount at Amazon, BHphoto and Adorama. While the FX9 got a $1000 discount at Amazon, BHphoto, Adorama.
