New Competition for Sony: Panasonic throws in every possible feature into the $3200 Lumix S1rII
Panasonic has announced a new S1rII with a (Sony?) 44MP sensor. And check out the list of specs and reviews to see how many features this camera has for only $3300. Of course, Panasonic is somehow ‘forced’ to develop a camera that outperforms and undercuts the competition in terms of price, because that’s the only way they can gain market share. Honestly, I hope they succeed because that means Sony has to give us better cameras too :)

Cosina just announced the new Voigtlander 75mm f/1.8 FE lens with built-in BOKEH control ring!
Cosina just published this video with the info about a new Voigtlander 75mm f/1.8 FE lens with built-in BOKEH control ring.
If you rotate it you can create different kind of Bokeh effects:
Curiosity: At the beginning of the video Cosina introduced the new Zeiss lenses with whom they have a partnership. I suspect the OTUS lenses are produced by Cosina ;)

Thanks Greg Painter for spotting this!
Samyang will also announce a new Full Frame E-mount zoom this week!
I have been told that this week Samyang will announce a new autofocus zoom lens for the Sony E-mount system. My source also said that “there would be a surprising news anyone expected about the brand“. No idea yet what this means…
If you have more info about this (or rumor about any other company) you can share send me a message using this contact box, SIGNAL, or at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. Thanks!
Sigma announces the BF camera carved from a single block of aluminium!
I think you should take a close look at the new Sigma BF camera (here at BHphoto). The main reason is that it has a radically minimalist design, which I personally really like! Here is some important information:
- carved from a single block of aluminum
- minimalist controls
- 230 GB of internal memory
- No EVF, no SD slot, no HDmi, no IBIS and NO to a lot of things you usually have on a camera!
- Sigma BF Stands for ‘Beautiful Foolishness’
From a technical perspective, this really is a ‘boring’ camera, but the novelty here is the radical new design and user interface. I would love to see Sony produce a ZV or RX FF camera with such high build quality and a simplified, solid button layout. I’m seriously considering buying the WHITE model :)
Here you can see images of the Aluminum block used to carve out the new BF camera:
