Mirrorless market share in Japan: Sony leads before Canon and Fujifilm
BCNretail shared the market share details for the month of January. Here is the quick results summary from Digicameinfo:
- In terms of sales volume share by manufacturer in January 2013, Sony topped the list for the third consecutive month with 29.7%. In second place was Canon with a 26.3% share. These two companies account for the majority of the market. In third place was Fujifilm, whose share increased 4.6 points from the previous month to 15.9%, overtaking Nikon. This is the first time that Fujifilm has made it into the top three in five months.
- In the ranking of sales by series in January 2013, Canon’s “EOS R50” took the top spot. It overtook Sony’s “VLOGCAM ZV-E10 II” and regained the top spot for the first time in two months.
- Coming in third is Fujifilm’s “FUJIFILM X-M5.” Since its release at the end of November 2012, the model has been climbing the ranks every month, making it into the top three for the first time in three months. It accounts for roughly half of the company’s total sales, making a major contribution to the company’s growing market share.
