First leaked images of the new Sony A1II and 28-70mm f/2.0 lens

Share

Here are the first pictures of the new Sony A1II and the 28-70mm f/2.0 FE lens. Two more sources have confirmed today that these pictures are real (when I made the video yesterday, I still had doubts). It will come as no surprise that the A1II looks exactly like the Sony A9III. Unfortunately, I still haven’t gotten any detailed specs on the new camera, although I’ve been told that the updates are a collection of minor improvements and there’s nothing earth-shattering. More of a solid “facelift” of the A1 than a major new release.

I have not received any information about the possible introduction of a new 100-400GMII or any other “surprises”. All I know is that very likely the Sony A7V will be the next Alpha full frame camera to be announced after the A1II.

I thank all sources for their help and hope to share some solid A1II specs soon. In the meantime, here is the not yet 100% confirmed information on the two new products that will be announced on November 19th:

Likely (but still not 100% confirmed) Sony A1II specs:

  • 50MP Full-Frame Exmor RS BSI CMOS Sensor (same of the Sony A1)
  • Sony A9III body
  • New AI chip
  • faster frame rate and faster autofocus
  • More expensive than the current Sony A1
  • New CFexpress Type A with 4.0 standard (doubles the speed)
  • C2PA support for content authentication.
  • Availability in early 2025 only

Likely (but still not 100% confirmed) Sony 28-70mm f/2.0 specs:
