(SR2) Sony A77 with two semi-transparent mirrors?

The sketch above has been designed by the anonymous rumor source.

Last night I received following message from a new source. Beeing a new source means that you have to be very careful with the info he gave me. I don’t know yet if he is telling me the truth!

The message:

Yesterday Sony explained the new system that will be used for the incoming a77 (the a750 will use a regular SLR design). Practically the are using two semi-transparent mirrors and a high-resolution EVF to reinforced the live image. They are using a reflexive technology design called 70/30, between each semi-transparent mirrors.
The final image in the viewfinder will have 30% of original image and 70% of electronic reinforced image through the new EVF.

Message to the anonymous sender: Can you create a fake email account and contact me? Would be nice if we can stay in touch together! Thanks!

The New York Times about the A55: “a generally terrific camera”

The Sony Alpha A55 – Photokina 2010 with Warehouse Express

David Pogue from the NewYorkTimes published an article baout the new Sony Translucent cameras. You can read it here: NYtimes. This is porbably one of the most funny to read reviews!
Also Pixiq tested the Sony A33/55. This is a more “classic” technical review.

P.S: Miracle! Amazon US is taking preorderors of the Sony A55 (Click here) :)

(SR5) Sony says the A77 will be much better than expected (?)

Photoclubalpha had a discussion with Paul Genge of Sony UK and reports that “When the new A700-series model appears, Paul confirmed that it will look quite different from the mock-up shown at PMA and again at photokina. All the clues I can get indicate that it does indeed use the same basic internal system as the A33/55, and will have an EVF. But Paul said this camera will include such high specification features that current A700 owners will be amazed.” and “Paul said they intended to complete the A3/5/7 developments and would then turn their attention to new full frame, including an Alpha 900 replacement with features yet to be decided. He pointed to the new 500mm f/4 G SSM, shown in bare metal and with paint on, as evidence of their intentions. Also, it was possible to create a full frame NEX, using the same mount and the A-mount adaptor, but never the same lenses as the APS-C NEX. The mount had been designed to allow this and it might one day happen, in which case full-frame adapted Leica lenses (and so on) would be even more useful. The new standard zoom lens (16-80mm replacement) could be SAM not SSM. Paul pointed to the ring on the front of the mockup (gold ring – a bit of a Tamron-type clue?) and suggested that this could mean the SAM motor.

In summary:

1) the A77 is a SLT camera that will very likely be even better than we imagine….I can imagine a lot :)

2) The A950 will come some months after the A77

3) NEX was designed keeping fullframe in mind

Read the full text at Photoclubalpha. David also talks about the new NEX firmware!

P.S.: We are currently receiving some A77 and A950 rumors and I ask my sources if they can talk with me about that cameras. i need to confirm those rumors before to post them here! Thanks!

Sony UK says the A77 will not have a flip-up mode.

Paul Genge of Sony UK confirmed that the A77 will not have a flip-up mode to allow shooting without this extra sheet of glass in place.

So the ghosting issue won’t be fixed, nor we get better high-ISO.

:(

Thanks Sky for sending me the link!

P.S:: The ghosting issue has been described here: http://www.dpreview.com/news/1009/10090705sonya55reviewupdate.asp

(SR3) More about the A77 (and A7xx!)

I just received the following rumors form a good source. I hope other sources can confirm that soon:

And an update: I can say that there maybe an DSLR alongside the A77, A7XX. Just like the A580 to the A55. And to clear the other debacle up: You can either have:
CF card
CF+SD card
CF+MS
card
SD+MS card
SD card
MS card

REMINDER: The A77 and/or A7xx will be announced early 2011. At Photokina we will see a mockup only!

(SR4) The Sony A77 can take both SD and CF cards, has a bigger battery and records in 720p60!

A small update about the [shoplink 3228]Sony A700[/shoplink] successor called “A77”:

1) The A77 can be a little bit more bulky, heavier and can produce more photo’s from the NEW battery (around 1.000 pictures). The battery is also compatible with the Pro DSLR which Sony will launch months after the A77.

2) The camera can do 720p60 and 720p30. We are not certain yet if it can do 1080p24 (but probably yes)

3) It will take CF+SD+MS cards, of which you can use two at the same time (CF+MS or SD +MS or only SD)

I repeat, we will see a prototype verison at Photokina. The real camera will be announced early 2011!
