That waiting for the A77 is killing you and me! The very latest not so useful info I did receive was that Sony is now approving the REAL final name of the upcoming pro APS-C model. Since months we named the camera A77 but there could be still a surprise and Sony could name it differently (what about Sony A800?). On eBay there are already many stores placing there bet on the final name:
We get 9 results when we search for the [shoplink 5687]A77 (Click here to see the search list)[/shoplink] and we get 48 items when we search for the [shoplink 5686]A800 (Click here)[/shoplink].

The A800 name clearly reminds us that it is the [shoplink 3228]Sony A700 successor[/shoplink]. The A77 would  focus the attention on the translucent technology reminding us that this is the top model of the current [shoplink 3620]A33[/shoplink] and [shoplink 3617]A55[/shoplink] cameras.

Hot news dear readers! Sony will unveil three new cameras on March 23!

1) The NXCAM Super 35mm

The NXCAM Super 35mm modular(!) camera shares the same Sony F3 sensor (23.6mm x 13.3mm F11/ISO800 Exmor Super35 CMOS). It will be priced at under $7,000, has a large top-mounted screen/viewfinder, sturdy mike extension that doubles as a carry handle, and a right-side hand-hold grip. It has an E-mount! It will compete against the Panasonic AG-AF100 (Click here ot see the camera and specs at BH). So it sounds like we will get our digital E-mount “[shoplink 5702]Hasselblad[/shoplink]” :)

2) The compact NXCAM

There will be also a compact camcorder (under $3,500) with 96GB of internal memory and water/dust resistant (not waterproof!) body! It looks like the JVC HM100 (Click here to see it on Amazon). It has a fixed lens.

3) The twin-lens NXCAM 3D Camcorder

Priced under $3,500 and it comes with a 3.5” glasses-less 3D screen!

The NAB show takes place in Las Vegas on April 9-14.

Last week we posted a rumor (with lo SR2 credibility) about a possible Sony camera with foveon sensor that could be announced in 2012. One of our good sources just said that yes, it’s true Sony developing three layered sensors (like the Sigma foveon sensor) but there will be no camera in 2011-2012 using such a sensor. According to the source the technology is not mature for commercial use yet but it could be ready for commercialization in 3-4 years.

Short update about the upcoming new NEX camera that will be announced in April. According to one of our source the NEX-C3 will be available from May 26th. We don’t have exact specs about the camera yet, we only know it has a 16MPX sensor and an improved body design. As you already know the [shoplink 3000]Sony NEX-3 has been officially discontinued[/shoplink].

Message to our sources: We received a few info about a second NEX camera. Some of you do mention a NEX-C5 and some a NEX-7. Are those different cameras or the same camera?

One of my good sources sent me a new message to post on SonyAlphaRumors (I rewrote the text):
“Hi Andrea, the price of the A77 body ($900-1200, close to the [shoplink 5117]Canon 60D[/shoplink]) could be correct. I can confirm the focal length of the new A77 kit lens (16-50mm) but not the aperture f/2.8. The naming of the A77 is not final yet! At the moment Sony is working close with Zeiss Germany (they had a lot of meetings in 2011). We will see some new lenses (for [shoplink 3003]e-mount[/shoplink] to) in near future… May directly from Zeiss? Greetings from XXX ;-)”

A second very good(!) source told us that while is true that Zeiss will focus on fullframe lenses for Sony there are still two APS-C lenses planned for release in 2011-2012! So the new rumored 16-50mm kit lens should be real!

So we are getting closer to some exciting new announcements. NEX-C3 and E.mount lenses in April and a few months after the A77 and new lenses. Those nice guys from Quesabesde (Click here) managed it to squeeze out a very hot statement from Sony! They received an official Sony statement saying that all future Alpha models (APS-C and Fulflrame!) will be translucent! What do you think about that?

I don’t know where Engadget has taken all those rumored specs, but they certainly are the same we posted here weeks ago ;)
24 megapixel, AF fine-tuning capabilities, improved Bionz processor (obvious), support of CF, SD and Memory Stick memory card, battery for 1,000 photos

But they added a few new info:
1) 1080p/30fps, 720p/60fps and 720p/30fps high-definition video
2) Price (I guess body only) $900-1200 (Close to the [shoplink 5117]Canon 60D[/shoplink])
3) Vario-Sonnar T * DT 16-50mm F2.8 prime lens SSM (THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!). A shorter zoom range but constant aperture perfect for videoshooting but more expensive that the [shoplink 5586]Zeiss 16-80mm f/3.5-4.5[/shoplink]?

Let’s hope the specs are correct!
