Confirmed: Tamron 17-50mm has 67mm filter thread

It’s now confirmed by multiple sources that Tamron will announced the 17-50mm f/4.0 autofocus FE lens this week (likely August24). It will have a 67mm filter thread. No info about pricing yet…

It’s official folks: Sony teases a product launch event on August 29

Sony officially posted this teaser for an August 29 event. It says “a new camera is coming”. but we know we can expect more. This is what will be announced:

  • Sony A7cII: 33MP, 4k60p, AI features, improved AF over the A7IV, single SD slot, micro HDMI, fully articulating screen)
  • Sony A7cR: 61MP, 4k60p, AI features, single SD slot, micro HDMI, 4D fully articulating screen)
  • 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II: Much more compact than the predecessor, aperture ring close to the mount, optically superior.

One source (Thanks!) shared this firsts all image proof that the 16-35m GM II is indeed real and will be announced along the A7cII and A7cR on August 29. A second source told me this:

The reason why I called it a gimbal lens is because it has a very short barrel extension when zooming.

Good news: A7cII pricing in the USA is close to $2,000 and in Europe 2399€ !

A trusted source told me this:

  • A7cII USA pricing is a couple of hundred dollars less than the A7iV
  • Has on SD slot only
  • micro Hdmi
  • no overheating issue (in his personal testings)
  • AF is improved over the A7iV

Another European source shared the EXACT pricing info:

  • A7cII costs 2399€. Handgrip is NOT included and will cost 180€ extra.
  • A7cR costs 3699€. Handgrip is INCLUDED.

First leaked image of the A7cR and some good news: A7cII and A7cR will include a handgrip for free!

https://youtu.be/Ox_iWOuy7KA Here is the first leaked image of the Sony A7cR (Source Alex NG). You really only see the logo but at least it’s proof this camera exists. And you are not missing out anything as the A7cR will look exactly like the already fully leaked A7cII camera…except for the 4D fully articulating screen of the A7cR which the A7cII doesn’t have (it has the A7IV fully articulating screen). And some good news for you: Yesterday I disappointed you with the rumored (high) camera pricing which I hope turns out to be wrong. But on a positive note I have been told that both cameras will include a handgrip for free! Such grips usually are quite expensive, the Leica M11 grip costs more than $400 while the Fujifilm X-T5 grip costs more than $100. Third party grips cost much less…but still at least it’s something you don’t pay for!
