But there will be any more E-mount lenses coming from third party manufacturers too! One of them will be very exciting and I hope to be able to post this rumor soon!
Reminder: When it comes to cameras we will get a new ZV-E10II first, FX camera after that but also some exciting Alphas during the second half of the year ;)
According to two trusted sources Sony will soon announce a new 24-70mm f/2.0 lens. No one in the history of photography has ever made such a lens! The closest lens is the current Canon 28-70mm f/2.0. But having 4 mm more at the wide end makes this lens much more attractive to a variety of photographers. You can shoot landscapes and take beautiful portraits–a real jack-of-all-trades! From what I have heard, this lens should be about the same size as the Canon, while having a longer focal length. So it should still be “practical” and not too heavy. I have been told that the image quality is superb, and that there is no compromise in getting the 2.0 aperture. I do not yet have an exact release date or pricing information to share. But I understand that this lens may be announced in the next few months, and my guess is that the price will be around 3000+.
But today’s rumor is good news for multiple reasons:
This appears to be the first in a new series of super-fast zooms and primes.
It seems that in general Sony wants to create an exciting “new kind” of product… not only in lenses, but also in cameras!
What else can we expect? I am starting to get some rumors about the next upcoming superfast lens, the Sony 24-70 mm f/2.0, about which I will soon share some “wild rumors” (meaning they are unconfirmed). I also got the first hints about the announcement of a major camera(s) coming in the second half of the year. I hope my dream of something “different” will come true….new RX fixed lens camera or some other exciting new camera concept. After two months of rumor work I can finally claim that I am nearly certain that Sony is about to launch a “WOW” product. A couple of things about this “world’s first” Sony product:
Something I suspected was going on since last autumn has now been confirmed: Sony has some kind of camera/lens production delay that will delay the shipment of many products by around 2 months!
Here are a couple of examples:
The Sony A9III and the 300mm GM were announced in November but only started to ship out this February (3 months after)
last week announced the new 24-50mm G that will only ship in late May (again 3 months after)
The rumored 16-25mm G lens should have been announced last week too but has been delayed. And once it will be announced you can expect to see it shipping only a couple of months after.
I have been told this delay also will affect the launch of future products:
The ZV-E10II will ship later than expected. previously I told you it would be in Stock before summer…but now it’s going to be mid summer.
The same for the 85GM II which will now NOT be in Stock by June as reported earlier

I know Sony is reading this so I will share one more opinion about this. You should two things in future:
Open preorders the very same moment of the product announcement! You are missing out the hype if you open reorders the day after.
On various Chinese social platforms you can read about a possible Sony FX3II with 12 Megapixel Global shutter sensor coming in March. I did NOT get any confirmation about such a camera model. All I know is that the ZV-E10II is coming soon. So I would take those rumors with a huge amount of skepticism.
That said, I do believe a global shutter on a video focused E-mount camera makes a TON of sense. What do you think? Should a future FX3II or maybe even the A7sIV have global shutter?
I got first hints about two possible major Sony announcements. With “major” I mean cameras that are High End. A trusted source told me Sony reserved two time slots for those announcements but I don’t know yet what we will get.
