I finally got the first image of the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II lens that will be announced on May 16. This is what we know about the lens:

• Optically improved (better color rendition and sharpness)
• Lighter and a tiny bit more compact
• 82mm filter size
• aperture ring
• inner focusing
• L and E mount
• May 16 announcement

Still don’t have the pricing info but I expect this to cost $200-$300 more than the current version. And, how do you like this lens? Will you buy it?

Sigma will announce the new lens next week on May 16! It’s coming for both Sony E and Leica L mount. The info I know so far:

• 24-70mm f/2.8 II Full Frame lens for Sony E and Leica L
• The new lens is more compact, optically sharper, has better color rendition, improved AF performance than it’s predecessor
• Will be price a couple of hundred dollars more than the current 24-70mm lean (now $999 at Amazon).

Sony will soon announce a new Xperia 1 VI and 10 VI. All images have been leaked here: ibb.co. And this is just a selection of images:

Some info on the cameras used:

10VI, 6 Gen 1. Dual camera, now with 2x option (binned from main wide lens)
1VI, zoom lens 85-170mm 3.5-7.1x. Screen 1.5x brighter than old stuff, 1-120Hz.

Two trusted sources confirmed the following info:

• New Sigma announcement in mid May
• We will get the redesigned 24-70mm f/2.8 II Full Frame lens for Sony E and Leica L
• The new lens is more compact, optically sharper, has better color rendition, improved AF performance than it’s predecessor

I have been told that the reason why Sigma is launching a new version is because they want to be able to compete with the excellent Sony 24-70mm GMII. And they also gave me another interesting tidbit: The Sigma 24-70mm is their most popular lens. Sigma wants to keep it that way!

I have been telling you for months about five lenses coming til early summer:

• 24-50mm f/2.8 G (Amazon, BHphoto, Adorama, FotoErhardt, Calumet, Fotokoch, WexUK)
• 16-25mm f/2.8 G (Amazon, BHphoto, Adorama, FotoErhardt, Calumet,FotoKoch,  WexUK)
• 24-70mm f/2.0 GM
• 85mm f/1.4 GM II
• one more lens (specs not known)

The fact that he got the first two lenses right definitely confirms that we will soon have these two new GM monsters! A series of interesting announcements can be expected from now on:

1. The next Sony announcement will bring us the ZV-E10II and one new lens.(the one with the specs I still don’t know).
2. With that OR shortly after that we will get the new GM lenses.
3. And after the GM lenses we can talk big business with new Alpha bodies, FX cameras and more exciting lenses!

Now I am 100% certain we are getting the Sony 16-25mm f/2.8 G today. Should be official at 3pm London time!

Soon after the announcement I will work on the details of the next Sony ZV-E10II announcement in May ;)

Other sources confirmed that on April 16 Sony should announce the 16-25mm f/2.8 G lens. I am now trying to get the date of the next two Sony announcement in May and June where we will get the ZV-E10, 85mm f/1.4 GMII and likely the 24-70mm f/2.0 GM.
