According to leaked information on Weibo, VILTROX’s full-frame AF lens “AF 35mm F1.2 LAB” is scheduled to be announced at CP+ in February 2025. Here are some additional info:
This lens is VILTROX’s first full-frame compatible F1.2 large aperture autofocus lens, and is expected to be available in both Sony E-mount and Nikon Z-mount.
The lens body is expected to be lighter than the Nikon Z 35mm F1.2 S, and the expected price will be just a quarter of the price of the Nikon Z 35mm F1.2 (so around $700). It is also half the price of the Sigma 35mm f/1.2 FE
Here is an image of the prototype version:
The “LAB” series is their highest quality lineup and includes the existing Viltrox 135mm f/1.8 FE LAB. Two more f/1.2 primes are rumored to be announced in 2025:
According to a Weibo source, Sigma will be presenting two new lenses at CP+. One is a zoom lens and one is a fixed focal length lens. The fixed focal length lens is said to be a new 800mm f/6.3 full-frame lens for Sony E and Leica L-mount cameras. There is no information about the zoom lens, but it could ‘just’ be the full release of the previously teased Sigma 28-45mm T2 Cine E mount lens (listed here at BH).
This is not an info coming via my trusted sources…but if it’s true than we are getting two new 800mm lenses in by end of this month: The Sony 400-800mm f/6.3-8.0 and the Sigma 800mm f/6.3.
A source (thank you!) has sent me the first pictures of the new Sony 400-800mm f/6.3-8.0 lens in FULL SIZE. It really does look almost like a copy of the current Sony 200-600mm G lens. I was told that the 400-800mm is a little bit bigger and heavier than the 200-600mm. The weight is said to be around 2.5kg. I have no information on pricing….I’m guessing it will be in the neighbourhood of $2,500…what do you think?
These are the two lenses that Sony will announce before the Cp+ how (perhaps on 26 February):
If you also have images of the new 16mm lens use this contact box or via sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. And of course…I want to know what’s coming after those two lenses…the Sony A7v?
A source (thank you!) sent me this first leaked image of the new Sony 400-800mm f/6.3-8.0 G lens. The image proves that the rumors about Sony announcing two new lenses ahead of the CP+ show were correct:
From the picture, we can’t really tell how big this lens is. Hopefully sources can send me the full size image soon via t this contact box or via sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. Sources have told me that it’s relatively compact and lightweight, but I haven’t gotten any specifics yet.
There are also some UNCONFIRMED rumors that both lenses will be announced on February 26. That’s about it for now…hope also to get some Sony A7V launch date info soon!
The previously rumored 50-105mm f/2.8 G is NOT coming at CP+ and also not the Sony A7V (which is more likely to be announced in March/April).
The sources did yet not share ulterior specs about the lenses but here is my SPECULATION:
Sony 16mm f/1.8 G It will be optically superior and more compact than the existing Viltrox 16mm FE. But also cost close to $1,000.
Sony 400-800mm f/6.3-8.0 G Expect similar build quality and pricing of the Sony 200-600mm lens. But the 400-800mm is probably extremely lightweight and compact and perfect for long handheld wildlife shooting.
I am also working on the rumors about the Sony A7V and I think I can soon share some more reliable info. There are also rumors on TWO more Sony cameras that I am working on. Both confirmed by trusted sources. So it looks like after the CP+ show I will have do double down on my work on SAR :)

What you see above is the official registration line in Indonesia for a new digital camera from Sony. The camera is manufactured in Thailand and has the code “WW277226”. There are no other details that we can learn from this document. In total, Sony has now registered two new camera codes, one in China and one in Thailand. Let’s take a look at the details:
1) Camera WW773396 On December 4, the Chinese authority officially registered a new Sony camera with the code “WW773396“. It has dual-band WiFi support, which means it is definitely not a cheap entry-level compact camera. It usually takes 3-4 months for the camera to be officially launched. So we should see this camera announced in early April at the latest. My bet is that it is the new Sony A7V.
2) Camera WW277226 On January 20, the Indonesian authority registered the camera “WW277226”, which is manufactured in Thailand. The fact that it is made in Thailand rules out the possibility that it is a camcorder, as these are made in Shanghai. So it could be another E-mount camera! I have received a “hint” from a source as to what kind of camera it might be, but I’m not 100% sure yet, so I’d rather wait to share any information until I get further confirmation.
By and large, the two registrations confirm what I have previously told you through my trusted sources: That we will get more camera announcements in 2025 than in 2024 (Sony A1II and ZV-E10II). Here is the image of the first registration in China:
So folks, I told you that in February we might get a new lens, in March maybe the A7V and after that another E-mount camera!
