Cameralabs tested the new Sony A33 camera:”for now can assure you the movie experience is the closest we’ve found to a consumer camcorder yet“. The final review will be posted soon but you can already see some interetsing tests.

Meanwhile Fotopolis posted a complete A33 review. Those are the pros and cons:

+ Interesting exposure modes, including 3D panoramas and HDR

+ Low noise for high ISO
+ Excellent reproduction of detail

+ Quite good ergonomics
+ SDXC + card support, and MS Pro Duo

– Semi-transparent mirror, limits the access of light to the sensor
– At the expense of optical electronic viewfinder
– Body made of average quality plastics
– Cannot record movies in Single AF mode
– Relatively high price

Dpreview just posted the new Sony/Zeiss Distagon 24mm f/2.0 review: http://dpreview.com/lensreviews/sony_24_2_m15/.

The conlcusion? No surprise here. The Distagon delivers a superb image quality with fast silent and accurate autofocus. The only minor issue is the flare under direct sunlight.

DxOmark tested the new Samsung NX100 camera and finally we can compare all compact mirrorless cameras. The Sony NEX sensor beats the rest of the mirrorless world with an over score of “69”. The NX100 has “62” and the GF1 “53” points. Where the NEX sensor really shines is with a 2 stop advantage in dynamic range and a much better noise handling.

Dpreview tested the new NEX firmware and you they started with a nice compliment to Sony: “It’s apparent that the company has listened closely to what users and reviewers have been saying, and has corrected many of the camera’s shortcomings.”

Photographybay reviewed the Sony NEX-5 and became a big fan of the camera: “Aside from a few minor quibbles with regard to its controls and functionality, the Sony NEX-5 is an otherwise great mirrorless camera.”
