Double Samyang/Rokinon 8mm fisheye lens review.

Not Sony only but also Samyang is rumored to announce new E-mount lenses in September. These will support AF and electornic aperture control. For now Samyang released one manual lens only, the cheap and nice Samyang/Rokinon fisheye lens that got reviewed by two well known testers:
Kurtmunger: “The Rokinon 8mm F/2.8 fisheye lens performs superbly; there’s nothing negative to say about it other than sun flare is strong at times, but that may enhance your image depending on the feeling you want to present to the viewer
ePhotozine: “The exceptionally low price of £270 for the performance this lens delivers makes this lens a simple choice for those in the market for a fisheye lens for their Sony NEX

This lens can be purchased at Amazon (as Samyang) and again at Amazon (as Rokinon). And on [shoplink 8622 ebay]eBay (as Samyang)[/shoplink] and on [shoplink 5756 ebay]eBay (as Rokinon)[/shoplink].

[shoplink 12933][/shoplink] Short message to invite you to read the latest DPreview test of the NEX-F3. It earns a well deserved “Silver Award”: “It has great photo quality, a complete set of features, and snappy performance. The only thing I’d recommend is trying one out in person before you buy, as the user interface leaves much to be desired.

Look how the RX100 looks after a truck crash :)

Cheesycam video showing how ND or CPL filters will work when in use on the RX100

If you ever wondered how the RX100 will look “inside” than you might check out the Getdpi Forum (Click here) where Matix shows the pics of his RX100 after being hit by a Truck. Curious: “battery door and flash mechanism can handle it (the truck).”

Now back to a new review report. The well known “Popular Photo” Magazine posted the full RX100 test: “Even though we feel that the camera’s performance might have been better served keeping the pixel count down, we ended up with some great images.” According to their tests the camera takes good pictures from 100 up to 400 ISO. After that the image visibly deteriorates.

New Lens reviews (and US Sigma deal reminder)

Short break from rumors! I have to catch up with some lens reviews posted by important reviewers:

Kurt Munger posted the full Sony DT 18-135mm lens review: “What’s actually welcome is the updated ‘SAM’ focusing (quieter and faster than the old ‘SAM’) with well implemented direct manual focusing, and the new metal mount; ok it’s cheap, but better than plastic.

SLRgear posted the Sigma 30mm review: “It holds its own in our tests, providing a sharp image even wide open at ƒ/2.8, with only slightly notable chromatic aberration in the corners.

David Kilpatrick tested the old and new Sigma ultra wide zooms: “The test made me even happier with the 8-16mm, especially with the thought that some modification could make it a unique lens to use on the Alpha 900 or a future full frame EVF model (A99)

New NEX-7 Palm Grip and new NEX-7 review.

At JimBuchananSpace you can find the pictures and description of the new NEX-7 Palm Grip. Smart Idea!

Chris Townsend posted his personal NEX-7 review: “Is the Sony NEX 7 the best camera for backpacking and hiking? I don’t know. It must be one of the best though, given the low weight and bulk and high image quality. It’s definitely a camera for photographers who want the best results and who are likely to make large prints or have images published.
