Meike Automatic Extension Tube For Sony E-Mount

Note: Although I had planned to do a image quality test of the sony a6000, I realized that I do not have a fair frame of reference, since I don’t own more than a couple bodies. Instead, I have decided to focus on reviewing the lenses and accessories, that are in my possession, at least until my other priorities take over (like, making a living for my family). I have decided to start with a budget accessory which could be quite useful to the owner of an e mount camera. This evaluation will hopefully be helpful to those who are interested in purchasing a product of this genre.

Sony 50MP Medium Format sensor tests roundup.

Pentax 645Z bajo el agua

The chance is there that Sony will announced a proper new Sony medium format can fixed lens camera this year. And if that happens it will surely use that great new Sony 50MP sensor used by the recently newly announced Phase One, Pentax and Hasselblad cameras. So here is a roundup of test to see what such a sensor can deliver in terms of IQ:

Quesabesde posted some RAW image samples with the IQ250 if you want to pixel peep them and see what a Sony 50MP sensor can deliver you :)

Serious A7s long exposure test shows hot spots (with NR off).

SAR reader Eric Lo shared this A7s long exposure test. It shows the many hot spots you can see if you switch off the Long exposure NR reduction. We don’t know the reason why you have much more of them compared to the A7r. Anyway, the good news is that with Long Exposure NR on things look pretty good.

For current (or future) A77II camera owners. Here is soemthing for you:

Imaging Resource posted that video comparing the speed of the new Sony A77II vs the Nikon D7100 and Canon EOS 7D. And it’s impressive to see what the A77II can do! Watch it!

Sony A7s gets almost rid of the corner issues with wide angle lenses!

The A7s is finally set to ship tomorrow via  Sony USA, and Sony Canada and aftertomorrow at Amazon, Adorama, BHphoto. And there is also a good news for wide angle shooters:

Our reader Tamrong sent us this A7r vs A7s wide angle comparison via Facebook. It has been taken with the [shoplink 27408 ebay]Voigtlander 15mm lens (here on eBay)[/shoplink]. Like you see the A7s corner performance with such critical wide angle lenses is much improved!

Sigma 50mm ART lens gets another thumbs up from Photozone!

Our long time colleague Klaus from Photozone tested the 50mm Sigma ART lens (FF Canon mount version). And he says it’s:

better than all the other 50mm lenses that we have tested to date. The new (untested) Zeiss Otus 55mm f/1.4 may still be better, especially regarding bokeh fringing, but it’s a manual focus lens and in terms of size, weight and astronomical price tag it just cannot be everybody’s darling anyway.

This is really a must have lens for all A-mount camera owners! Just like the 55mm FE Zeiss is a must have for E-mount guys!

The A-mount lens can be preordered in USA Amazon (Click here) at BHphoto (Click here) and Adorama (Click here). And in Europe at WexUK (Click here) and WexDe (Click here).
