This is how much fun you can have while testing Sony A7s slow motion video :)

Those strange guys thought to test the Sony A7s slow motion feature by acting crazy. Well, it’s more funny than many other boring slow motion videos showing water drops, a cat moving around the house or so on :)

First preview of the Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 VC Full Frame lens!

Matt Granger is the first guy who was able to take some shots with the new Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 VC Full Frame lens. He tested the lens on a Canon but the lens will be available for A-mount too. The lens has a new “super aspherical” element and Tamron’s goal is to beat the Canon 16-35mm and Nikon 14-24mm lens performance. And the 15-30mm will be cheaper than those (final price yet unknown).

Well, from what we see from Matt’s short testing that lens really looks like a winner. Let’s hope that unlike Sigma we will get the Tamron A-mount version the same day as the Canon and Nikon version release!

Reminder: Full Tamron press release can be read here: sonyalpharumors.com/tamron-announces-the-development-of-the-15-30mm-f2-8-a-mount-lens/

Perfect size comparison of all four new FE lenses (Zeiss, Sony and Loxia).

If you want to get an idea about the new FE lens size here is a comparison between the Zeiss 16-35mm, Sony 28-135mm, Loxia 35mm and Loxia 50mm lenses. The Loxia is clearly well balanced on the A7 while the Powerzoom…well..don’t think you are going to use that on your A7 or not?

New Zeiss 16-35mm RAW image samples (and still selling well in US).

Zeiss_16-35mm

The Zeiss 16-35mm is still leading the order ranking at Amazon US (full list here).

VeryBigLobo is so kind to share the first RAW file 16-35mm samples freely for download. He also made a quick comparison with the A-mount 16-35mm and says the A-mount lens performed worse and has more smearing on corners. But take such conclusion with a grain of salt. You need proper time and location to make a fair comparison.

Cameras.reviewed shared their hands-on thoughts about the lens and do write:

It’s made of metal, has a pleasant heft, and feels like it’s meant to be used—not just put on a shelf and admired.

Here is a great Sony A7s video entirely shoot with moonlight only!

Moonlight | Sony A7s ISO test
from Carbon Studios on Vimeo.

The Sony A7s is one of those few cameras that can expand your creativity. Here is just an example of a video shot in moonlight only! Carbon Studios writes:

“The first scene was shot at 1/25th, f/1.4, 25,600 ISO, The second scene was shot at 1/25th, f/1.4, 32,000 ISO. We did not add any color grading, noise reduction, or sharpness.  All of the clips are straight out of the camera shot in the PP2 setting. You will notice some purple fringing around the left side, The Metabones adapter that we rented had a light leak issue from what it looks like. Sony has done an amazing job in creating this camera especially after seeing the quality that has come out of this camera. Gear used:
Sony A7s
Metabones EF to NEX Smart Adapter II
Zeiss 55mm 1.4 Otus
Zeiss 28mm 2.0

Interview with Mr.Ueda (Sony) about the new Sony 28-135mm lens.

Sony 28-135mm Cine Lens – Exclusive Hands-On Interview
from cinema5D on Vimeo.

Cinema5D posted that Video Interview with Mr.Ueda from Sony. The talk is about the new 28-135mm FE powerzoom lens. Cinema5D also had the chance to test the lens:

The aperture F/4.0 seems to go all the way through, unlike Canon’s own and frequently used Canon 24-105mm that gets darker at the far end. The images appear very sharp and clear and we couldn’t see any obvious chromatic aberration or softening at F/4.0. We were told it is made for 4K applications. Overall the lens feels very well manufactured and strong.
