New Sony A7II review by Engadget. Says…”It’s worth every penny.”

Sony-A7II-grip

We have four new A7II reviews:

Engadget writes:

All in all, Sony took everything it learned from the launch of the original A7 and made it better. Yes, the A7 II is heavier and, yes, it is missing attributes, like 4K video. However, those compromises (if you can call them that) mean the new camera starts at $1,700 for the body only, making it relatively accessible to prosumers. And make no mistake: It’s worth every penny.

Admiringlight writes:

The Sony A7 II is the most enjoyable Sony camera I’ve ever shot with, and the excellent image quality along with great ergonomics and usability make the A7 II one of the best, if not the best, mirrorless cameras on the market.  The $1,699 pricetag might be at the upper end of the range of the mirrorless spectrum (with only its sister cameras the A7r and A7s coming in higher), but given what you receive, it’s really an attractive price with excellent bang for the buck.  It’s a camera that I wholeheartedly recommend.

Jay writes:

The Sony A7 II delivers in my opinion and besides the few nit-picks I pointed out in the video review, it’s fantastic. The firmware update addressed the only real issue with the camera and now the IBIS works flawlessly with my favorite old school lenses!

Mike On The Street writes:

I’ve been selling all my Canon gear and I’m not missing it for a second. And I suspect my Fuji X100 will be collecting dust as well. The Sony A7II is an absolutely brilliant camera for street photography and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s definitely the best interchangeable lens camera I’ve ever used.

The big Sony A6000 post (Tania Branigan in North Korea).

The A6000 may not be on the headline like an A7s but it’s certainly one of the best cameras you can get for much under $1,000. And here are a couple of videos and reviews to show you how well the camera works. Most noticeable Tania Branigan from The Guardian used the cam to shoot that extremely rare video in North Korea:

Still a bit strange but Sony Europe doesn’t offer the new 1.10 A7II firmware update yet. But you can still use Sony USA (Click here) to download the files. And those are two videos that show you how the stabilization system gets improved.

An “unfair” comparison: Sony A7II 5 axis stabilization versus A7II with DJI Ronin and Glidecam HD2000!

A7II Stabilization Test with DJI Ronin, Glidecam HD2000 & Handheld

How good is the Sony A7II 5 axis stabilization versus the more “serious” DJ Ronin ($2,699 here on BH) and Glidecam HD2000 ($479 here on BH) Stabilizer Systems? Well watch the video on top to see it.Keep in mind that the test was done before the new firmware released on January 8th. The new firmware improves the performance quite a bit!

First test video shows how new A7II firmware improves the 5 axis stabilization!

Note: There was an error on the video on my original post. I now updated it with that new video.

This video shows the difference improvement with the 5 axis stabilization with the new 1.10 firmware. The first part of the video shows you the “older” A7II firmware and the second part shows you the A7II with the new 1.10 firmware. The lens he used is the [shoplink 32385 ebay]Minolta MD Tele Rokkor-X 135/3,5[/shoplink].

I have to confess I didn’t expect to see such a big improvement! Now reviewers have to do their A7II test from scratch :)

You can download the software here: Sony USA. Soon it will be available also on those pages at Sony Germany, Sony UK, Sony Fance, Sony Italy, Sony Spain, Sony Netherland.
