Newsshhooter 28-135mm FE lens reviews: “For that price it makes it a no brainer”

Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS Lens Review
from Matthew Allard ACS on Vimeo.

Newsshooter (Click here) tested the Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS Lens.

Some a7S owners may think the lens a little too big and heavy to use on their camera but I don’t see it as a problem. If you balance well it can be handheld even without a rig. For hand holding the lens on a a7S I put my right palm underneath the lens collar and use my fingers to operate focus, zoom and iris. With your right hand you can operate all the camera side settings.
The positive aspects of this lens far outweigh the few small drawbacks of this lens. For $2500 it offers a level of performance and a feature set that was previously unobtainable for most shooters. I highly recommend this lens if your a Sony full frame FE mount camera owner

You can see plenty of videos made with the lens on the Newsshooter review page.

One first image sample with the new Voigtlander Heliar 15mm III lens (will ship in March!)

The Spanish site DSLRmagazine is the first one sharing a full size image sample of the new Voigtländer 15mm f/4,5 III M-mount lens. The lens has a new optical design to get rid of the corner issues when using it on the Sony A7/r/s camera. Here is the full size image samples taken with the A7s (Click on image to enlarge):

Also Newsshooter posted two image samples again taken witht he A7s:

I got to put the lens on my a7S and was very happy with the lenses performance. As claimed the edge to edge sharpness was very impressive although it does have some barrel distortion towards the edges of frame which is quite noticeable. I really liked the feel and the handling of this lens on the Sony a7S and the images look very impressive whether your taking video or photographs.

And here is also a video they made with it:

Of course the A7s is the one camera that because of the larger pixels always had less issues with such lenses. That said the picture shows a very improved quality on corners. And let me add that the lens looks quite good on the A7s! I really think that is going to land in my camera bag soon :)

The lens will ship in March according to Australian Store Mainlinephoto.com.au. In Japan it will cost 95,000 YEN. The US price should be a bit higher than that of the current [shoplink 33438 ebay]Heliar 15mm II (here on eBay)[/shoplink] but it has yet to be confirmed.

Cinema5D (Click here) is among the first to review the new Sony 28-135mm FE lens and writes:

The Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS Lens is truly a stunner. It comes with many very useful (if not essential) features for professional shooters and brings broadcast lens functionality into the full frame world at a compact size.

Newsshooter also posted a hands-on video and report with the 24-240mm FE lens:

I had a quick hands on with the lens at CP+ and while it looked to perform well from around 24-100mm, it did look noticeably softer at the far end of the focal range. Build quality was average but it was nice to handle and use.

Dpreview about the Canon 50MP sensor: “won’t be able to offer the same industry-leading dynamic range of Sony sensors”

A7r vs 5ds by CameraSize.

Dpreview added an interesting note about the new Canon 5ds 50MP sensor:

As far as dynamic range is concerned, we’re told that the new 5DS and 5DS R should give the same performance as the current EOS 5D Mark III. If true, this means that the new cameras won’t be able to offer the same industry-leading dynamic range of Sony’s current APS-C and full-frame sensors, but at least it isn’t a step backwards.

Well, sound sreally like the A7rII (or A9) could beat the Image Quality delivered by that new Canon 50MP 5Ds.
