First tariff effects? BH removed the Sony 400-800mm preorder option and Adorama says it’s shipping out in June only

This is rather unusual, but the pre-order option for the Sony 400-800mm has been removed from BHphoto and Adorama says it won’t ship until June. I’m really not sure if this has to do with the current rate situation or if there is a sudden unexpected demand for this lens.

One more thing: SonyAlphaBlog just published the full review of this lens.

Blackmagic is the first camera manufacturer to announce price increases due to the new tariffs

Blackmagic writes:

We wanted to post a quick note on USA prices and the new government tariff changes.
Most products in the USA have increased and please check our web site for details. DaVinci Resolve and Blackmagic Cloud prices remain the same. It’s also worth noting the price increases only affect the US and prices in other counties are currently unchanged.

I have also heard first stories about Sony repair services being delayed because of a sudden price increase o parts. Let’s see if and when we will see price increases on E-mount gear too.

UPDATE: This incredible drama took another turn:

  • China tariffs have been raised to 125%
  • The rest of thew world gets the basic 10% tariff rate for 90 days

Still, Amazon has canceled orders for multiple products made in China and other Asian countries, suggesting the company is reducing its exposure to tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump.

Again, if you have on your mind to buy some gear I would act NOW to avoid the risk of paying a premium. Preorder now to SAVE prices before the tariff increases:
