Thomas: “I’m a daily reader of your site and it’s a great site for news and inspiring stuff. I thought you might find this to be interesting for you readers: We shot 4 promo-videos with the SONY NEX 7 for our startup company COSYSPEED. COSYSPEED has a unique bag system for mirrorless cameras, the CAMSLINGER bag (which fits perfectly to the SONY NEX/Alpha 7 and 3/5/6000). When we were planning our first Promo-Video for the CAMSLINGERs back in August 2013, it was a basic requirement that our videos have to be shot with a mirrorless camera. Jan, director, and Birgit, camerawoman, first were absolute against. “You can`t do that with such a tiny thing” they said. But I pushed my idea and bought a NEX 7 and some lenses. And then we shot the first video about a shootout between a mirrorless guy and a DSLR guy – and you know what? They loved the NEX 7! Inbetween we made 3 more videos all with the NEX 7 and the results are very nice. Recently we bought the a6000 for our future videos and Birgit, the skeptic camarawoman, owns now the NEX 7 we were using before :-) Here are links to the Videos:

Camera RAW 8.5 adds support for the new Sony cameras.

Adobe released the new CameraRaw 8.5 which now supports the three new Sony cameras (A7s, RX100m3 and A77II). There are also two new lens profiles for the Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC HSM (A-mount) and Sony Alpha 28-75mm F2.8 SAM. Here are the links and a note on a known RX100M3 bug:

Known Bug

  • Customers using the Sony RX100 M3 and capturing images at ISO 125 may find the default rendering in ACR and Lightroom too dark. This is a known issue and we are working to improve this in a future update.

Marketing fail? Worldcup photographer wear Sony 4K vest but do shoot with Canon :)

Sony is one of the big sponsor at the Football World Cup in Brazil. Even photographer are “forced” to wear Sony 4K advertising vests. But as you can see from the 360 degree pics posted at Visualise.com not a single of them shoots with a Sony. It’s all about Canon (and few Nikon). Let’s hope Sony will mae a real Alpha Full Frame Sports camera that will convince some of them to switch over to Sony!

Thanks Marald for finding and sharing the pics!

Big Adobe announcement day (wtih small surprises).

Adobe launched a series of new products and updates. Here is the list:

1) And Update of CC with new Focus masks feature (adobe.com/products/photoshop.html)
2) Photoshop Mix for iPad (itunes.apple.com/us/app/adobe-photoshop-mix-creative/id885271158).
3) Lightroom and Photoshop CC for $9,99 monthly sub (creative.adobe.com/plans/offer/photoshop+lightroom).
4) And Lightroom mobile. (adobe.com/products/lightroom-mobile.html)

Nothing really groundbreaking. Still hope they will get rid of that monthly subscription fee. It’s the one big thing that annoys me most :(
