Before the end of the world comes (Maya) I want to know what is the camera that excited you most! Is it the [shoplink 14165]A99[/shoplink]? The first professional stills and video hybrid camera. Or the excellent [shoplink 14158]A57[/shoplink] which packs a lot of features for the relatively low price. Than we have the [shoplink 14167]NEX-6[/shoplink], the cheaper [shoplink 8454]NEX-7[/shoplink] that has some nice features the NEX-7 has not. The Sony [shoplink 15824]RX1[/shoplink]? An innovative and super small Full Frame camera. Or the [shoplink 13014]RX100[/shoplink] that fears no competitor in his class?
You choose! Please take time before you vote. And let us know in the comments why you picked up the camera you voted! Thanks!
If you were ever curious about the detailed specs of that so called “translucent mirror” used for SLT cameras than just take a look a Patent Number 8313254 (via freepatentsonline). It explains the material used and the reflective characteristics of the mirror: “the light-beam splitting mirror has spectral characteristics including a reflectivity of 25% or more and 35% or less at all wavelengths from 400 to 650 nm and a reflectivity of 60% or more at a wavelength of 700 nm”
3D-Kraft.com commented yesterdays rumor about Sony’s Full Frame roadmap and showed an example of camera Sony should do. You may read it:
“Take the base concept of the RX1, add the EVF of the A99, replace the fixed lens by an E-Mount and replace the 24 MP sensor by the AA-filterless 36 MP sensor currently produced for the D800E. Modify the sensor (and propably the cooling as well) so that it can be read out with 60p (for 1080p60). Start with at least one fullframe capable E-Mount lens (e.g. a modified Zeiss lens for Alpha) and the rest will be adapted as until there are enough other E-Mount FF lenses become available. That will be the moment where I sell all my Nikon stuff.”
SonyAlphaRumors is read by plenty of Nikon and Canon camera owners. My question for them (and also for Sony owners for course) is:

Sony is working on the new FF cameras and they may be curious to read your opinion about that kind of “camera tech”.

A greta video shot on Sony cameras by Khairil Bahar (on youtube).
SAR reader Meng sent me this: “Share a stunning video by Khairil Bahar where he uses RX100, NEX system and other Sony Handycam series for some of his short film production. http://www.youtube.com/user/khaimano“ Hosam: “I would like to share my actual project, about our local wheel-chair basketball-team here in Ulm/Germany. Captured on the little and powerful Sony NEX-7 with a nice set of lenses and equipment. As always, I would really appreciate your support, as we are tryin to push their popularity…motivated by the human spirit for respect and social intercourse. https://vimeo.com/54108761” Gene: “Being an owner of the A77 since they first hit the market, I follow the developments with Sony’s new technology very closely. I’m a Hard Core photographer, with a background in Industrial Design, so I have been thinking for months about improvements that could be made.
To that end, I’ve written an open letter to Sony, outlining the features that would help the serious amateur, the Hard Core guy.
Just posted on my blog… http://preferredaperture.blogspot.com/” Robert: “I’m not sure if you’re interested in this sort of thing, but we just started using the Sony a57 and some Minolta and Sony lenses for our low budget film productions. Here’s a teaser trailer with all footage shot on the a57. 720p Vimeo version: https://vimeo.com/54241839 1080p Youtube version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRTUM0aP63I”
P.S.: More readers work will follow soon! Today I will read all the mails I didn’t read that week!
Fifteen months ago Sony announced that nice Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 but Sony never managed to produce enough lenses to fulfil the demand. According to top sources Sony finally found a way to increase the lens production and it’s expected to ship in large amount to EU and US stores in a few weeks. And destiny wants that today we had the very first price drop on that lens too! Sony authorized retailed Beachcamera is selling the lens with a $60 discount at Amazon (Click here) and on [shoplink 15680 ebay]eBay (Click to check it out)[/shoplink].
In Europe the lowest price I found was at Wex Germany (Click here). No real price drop in EU for now :(
