Camera RAW 8.5 adds support for the new Sony cameras.

Adobe released the new CameraRaw 8.5 which now supports the three new Sony cameras (A7s, RX100m3 and A77II). There are also two new lens profiles for the Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC HSM (A-mount) and Sony Alpha 28-75mm F2.8 SAM. Here are the links and a note on a known RX100M3 bug:

Known Bug

  • Customers using the Sony RX100 M3 and capturing images at ISO 125 may find the default rendering in ACR and Lightroom too dark. This is a known issue and we are working to improve this in a future update.

Marketing fail? Worldcup photographer wear Sony 4K vest but do shoot with Canon :)

Sony is one of the big sponsor at the Football World Cup in Brazil. Even photographer are “forced” to wear Sony 4K advertising vests. But as you can see from the 360 degree pics posted at Visualise.com not a single of them shoots with a Sony. It’s all about Canon (and few Nikon). Let’s hope Sony will mae a real Alpha Full Frame Sports camera that will convince some of them to switch over to Sony!

Thanks Marald for finding and sharing the pics!

Big Adobe announcement day (wtih small surprises).

Adobe launched a series of new products and updates. Here is the list:

1) And Update of CC with new Focus masks feature (adobe.com/products/photoshop.html)
2) Photoshop Mix for iPad (itunes.apple.com/us/app/adobe-photoshop-mix-creative/id885271158).
3) Lightroom and Photoshop CC for $9,99 monthly sub (creative.adobe.com/plans/offer/photoshop+lightroom).
4) And Lightroom mobile. (adobe.com/products/lightroom-mobile.html)

Nothing really groundbreaking. Still hope they will get rid of that monthly subscription fee. It’s the one big thing that annoys me most :(

Sony says “We are ready” to produce curved sensors on mass scale.

The image of this Sony curved sensor created quite a buzz but some people argued that this tech may not coming any time soon. Well this is wrong. Sony already made a first mass production run and realized 100 sensors. Sony device manager Itonaga said it clearly: “We are ready“.

And as we shared  before. The first lens coming along this sensor will be the 35mm f/1.8 Zeiss (Source SAR):

Tomer:I would like to share with you the best two weeks of my life. It was a combination of of a great location (NY), great camera and equipment and a seven month pregnant amazing wife. For years I have been using Sony cameras and a year ago I’ve decided to “switch camps” and go with Nikon’s DSLR. Short while after I moved to Nikon, the passion of spontaneously taking the camera and take photos simply faded, it was not as fun as it used to and I really felt bad about that. After a year of long and hard work, I have decided to do a vacation together with my wife in NY. I have visited all over Europe but never been to the states. I timed the trip to the launch of SONY A7 and sold my Nikon camera along with all other equipment, wanted to do a fresh start, who knows, maybe the passion will come back with the A7. This meant that I flew to NY without a camera, something I would never do because taking photos is one of the most important parts of my every day life. I remember the fear I had of being in NY, the place I always wanted to explore without a camera or worse, being with a camera and equipment I have no idea on operating, did I do the right move? First photo I did was with the Iphone, it was a photo of “We’ve landed and we are safe” for family and friends. The hotel informed us that we have to wait 5 hours for check in, I left my wonderful seven month wife in the lobby after 16 hours of flight (Tel Aviv to New York City) so she can rest and i ran to B&H to get my hands on the A7 with 20% battery on my phone and google maps…
2 hours later and 3 hours for the check in, I studied the camera and its features as much as I possible could because this was the only free time I had for it, afterwards my wife’s vacation starts and I have to focus on her.
So, here it goes, these are the photos I’ve took with the best camera I’ve ever held in my life while traveling with the woman I love in the greatest city on earth. If you like my post you can see some of the picture in
