Riaan: “I have no idea how many other have discovered this…and if they have they must be keeping it secret. The Sony A99 can sync a studio strobe outdoors in certain conditions. I am still testing how/why this happens…h.facebook.com/riaanrouxphotography/photos

Darren:So I had a recent project which I thought you may find interesting. I was recently graced with the opportunity to film a short with Daniel Ilabaca who is one of the top parkour athletes (traceurs) in the world. In this short Daniel traverses through the Los Angeles landscape in ways and places that are rarely seen. It is a unique glimpse into a city that everyone knows but that few have known like this. 90% of this short was shot on the Sony FS700. It has been my go to camera for actions sports for a couple years now. http://youtu.be/p9m-ujtNkHs

Ross:Wanted to share some of my Halloween pics … on the Waikiki streets and in two Rooftop clubs … that I only shot with the Sony a77 m2 + 16-35mm f2.8 and a few with the 50mm f1.4 ZA SSM. Jorge:The Online catalog feature on CameraPeddler.com which allows a user to inventory his or her photographic equipment is now up and running. Furthermore, The Group Valuation feature which allows other members to value your equipment in addition to your own personal estimate, can provide a graphical presentation of your items values from other photographers. This is a great way to provide real estimates to insurance companies and validate insurance claims if any. As always, you can make these features private by turning them on or off in your settings.
The Member Wanted list is up and running as well. This is a fantastic way for dealers or individuals to monitor what potential buyers are looking for and connect with them if you have what they are seeking. A simple click of a button from within the Wanted List allows you to post an item in the market which will notify members immediately. You can also grab the RSS feed which will keep you up to date on wanted items.
For an example of an Online Catalog, visit http://www.camerapeddler.com/onlinecatalog.php?userid=13 and click on the Graph Icon.

Phottix Introduces Two New Mitros TTL Flash Units for Photographers Using the Sony Multi-Interface Hotshoe

Powerful, reliable and affordable Mitros and Mitros+ Electronic Flash units now available for use with newer Sony cameras, which use the Sony multi-interface hotshoe

Hampstead, MD (November 12, 2014) – Phottix announces the worldwide introduction of two new Mitros TTL Flash units for use with the proprietary Sony multi-interface hotshoe. Following more than three years in development, the two new Phottix flash units not only fit the multi-interface hotshoe found on newer Sony cameras but electronics in the flash units readily communicate with the cameras’ own expanded capabilities to operate as one smooth system. The new Phottix Mitros is now available for $299 (USD) and the Mitros+ is also now available for $399 (USD).

Both Mitros models share many significant features including a guide number of 58, full TTL functionality as well as manual and multi modes, Auto/Manual Flash Head Zoom with 180 degree rotation and 97 degree tilt, High Speed Sync and Rear Curtain Sync, Manual and bracketed Flash Exposure Compensation, and a Quick Flash Mode: with 0.1-2.5 second recharge times and much more including a USB port for future firmware upgrades and a 3.5mm sync port.

The Phottix Mitros+ adds significant functionality, allowing photographers to not only use the Mitros on or off camera for lighting, but to also control and trigger remote flash by radio signal. The Mitros+ is an industry landmark and was developed with input from wedding and event photographers.

“The introduction of these new Sony-mount flash units recognizes the popularity enjoyed by Sony with digital cameras, not just in the United States but across the world,” said Phottix CEO Steve Peer. “Sony continues to produce innovative solutions for photographers and with the introduction of these new flashes, Phottix is underscoring its commitment to supporting Sony users as well.”

Photographers can use the versatile Mitros+ on-camera as a key- or fill-light, as well as control and trigger other Mitros+ flashes or compatible flashes using Phottix Odin Receivers. The Mitros+ also offers a built-in Phottix Odin Receiver and Strato II Receiver. Existing Phottix triggers, like the Phottix Odin or Strato II can be used to trigger the Mitros+ without extra receivers.

Sony will launch a “White-Christmas” A6000 edition.

A6000white

Sony just announced the Sony A6000 White Christmas edition that will go on sale from Mid December. Pity that it will go on sale with a Silver (and not a better matching white) 16-50mm kit lens. Price of the camera+lens will be $1,099. Don’t know you but I would rather spend $150 less and get the Black A6000 double(!) lens kit for $948 at Amazon US instead.

The new White version is listed at Sony UK and Sony Germany.

Hasselblad about Design center closure: “will not have any effect on our production or product portfolio”

Hasselblad-IDC-closed

As you know recently we reported about the closure of the Italian Design center responsible for the [shoplink 22672 ebay]Hasselblad Lunar (here on eBay)[/shoplink], [shoplink 22673 ebay]Stellar (here one Bay)[/shoplink] and the Hasselblad HV (here at BHphoto) design. DPreview now reports:

Hasselblad has responded to our questions about the design center closure. It confirms that the center has closed, but states that it ‘will not have any effect on our production or product portfolio’. It appears that while the northern Italy facility is gone, the re-badged Sony cameras may be here to stay.

To me it still sounds very clear that those rebadged Sony design strategy failed and will not continue. They may keep current production but If they close the design center…I do not think they will make new kind of luxury designed Sony cameras. But I may be wrong with my logic… :)

Still no word from Sigma about the exact 50mm ART A-mount shipment date.

Bildschirmfoto 2014-10-20 um 14.51.57

Sigma managers if you are reading this: Can you please tell us when you plan to ship the amazing 50mm f/1.4 ART A-mount version? It’s now quite a long time Amazon says shipping in 2-6 months :(
Recently Gordon from Cameralabs wrote:

The new Sigma 50mm f1.4 ART is a truly excellent lens which comfortably out-performs anything costing even twice the price. It sets a new standard for 50mm lenses and easily earns our Highly Recommended award.

This is likely the best A-mount lens you can buy and it’s pity Sigma is letting us wait so long to get it.

The A-mount lens can be preordered in USA Amazon (Click here) at BHphoto (Click here) and Adorama (Click here). And in Europe at WexUK (Click here) and WexDe (Click here).

rumor coming soon :)

I swear this isn’t intentional guys! Just got an image from an INCREDIBLE new Sony APS-C sensor. I don’t know if it’s true as I didn’t get it from trusted sources. So once again, please stay tuned. Will try to get 30 min off from work to post it as early as I can. This is SR3!

Again, I swear, this is not an intentional tease! I really got the rumor while I am busy at work! Really strange how things do happen sometimes…

One more thing: If true this is a MASSIVE improvement in terms of image quality! GAME CHANGING. Wanna bet I am right? Stay tuned ;)
