There are rumors on Weibo about a completely new Chinese company that wants to launch a new f/1.2 full-frame autofocus E-mount lens. Again, this is not a well-known company like Viltrox, 7Artisans, Laowa, Meike or others that we already know.
I find it impressive how many Chinese manufacturers are now building autofocus lenses. Some of these lenses, such as the Viltrox FE lenses, are of extremely high quality. Now there are only two major hurdles for them:
- Building good ZOOM lenses with autofocus (this is difficult because of the more complex autofocus algorithm)
- Produce their own cameras with native E-mount or NEW-mount
Back to the new company: it takes quite a courage to start with a f/1.2 FE AF lens. I hope they nail it!
