Does Tamron own 19% of the worldwide lens market share?

Share

A chinese source on Weibo reports that:

Internal documents of Tamron have been exposed, and the market share of Tamron camera lens products accounts for about 19% of the global market share, ranking first among third-party manufacturers in the world. This is also the first document information about the market share of third-party brands.

Not sure how reliable this info is but this would be good news for Sony too as they own around 12% share of this company. Tamron will announce six new lenses this year, so expect some new exctiging glass!

Note: Via PetaPixel we got confirmation by Tamron managers that they are definitely open to the idea to design more prime lenses if they see a market request in that direction.

Sony remove the 15fps limitation now!

Share

Take a look at this: One Facebook (Click here) you see a video of the Sigma 300-600+ Sony TC 2x + Nikon Z8. The Nikon has autofocus and can take continuous shots at full speed. Also Darek Dariuszbres tested the Sigma 300-600m lens on the Nikon Z9 via Megadap Pro and concluded:

An interesting fact is that Sony limits the number of frames per second on some lenses, including the described Sigma, max 15 fps . Similarly, there are no teleconverters, they are only on the L-mount. I think this is a deliberate limitation to reduce competition, only Sony has such a schizophrenia. On Nikon, such limitations do not exist and if I give it 120 frames, that is how much it goes on the discussed Sigma, or some old lens from a century ago.

Sony needs to explain to me why Nikon photographers can enjoy ‘more’ features when using the Sigma E-mount lens on their cameras via cheap third-party adapters, while we Sony photographers have to live with this unnecessary limitation.

I know Sony managers are reading this…so let me be clear: Get rid of this stupid limitation!

Sony RX10IV officially discontinued

Share

According to Asobinet Japanese stores officially marked the Sony RX10IV as discontinued. The camera can still be found in Stock at BHphoto, Amazon.

Last year I reported that, according to my sources, Sony will not develop a successor for this camera. So we’re done with such superzoom cameras from Sony… for now.
